The President-elect Barack Obama pledged to start on the major public works program given that the building of the interstate highways in the 1950s as part of his financial plans to create a millions of jobs and stalk out an economic reversal, which is growing worse with each day. Obama stated in a weekly media broadcast on radio, which was also posted in the YouTube video that "We need action - and action now." His comments were published the day after the government declared that 533,000 jobs have been nullified in November, which is the worse monthly job loss report ever in the past 34 years. The address comments that the latest effort by the president is focused to redesign the events and build a momentum for his schedule weeks before he joins office. Obama’s team and the Democratic lawmakers believe that a new economic stimulus package will cost as much as $700 billion and it will be passed by the Congress in January in a way that Obama can sign it into the law within just hours or days of his taking the office in January 20, 2009. Obama stated that the plan would consist of a lot of investments in roads many other infrastructure programs evocative of President Dwight Eisenhower's highway program, which happened to provide jobs to millions of people and which eventually did cost tens of billions of dollars. Obama stated he would oblige states to act quickly on the construction projects otherwise they would be risking in losing the federal help. Obama stated "We will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s," he also added "We'll invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways and we'll set a simple rule—use it or lose it. If a state doesn't act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, they'll lose the money." Ever since the recession started a year ago, nearly 2 million jobs have been nullified. Obama has stated that his plan will aim to make 2.5 million new jobs before 2011. He remarked on Saturday "We need to act with the urgency this moment demands to save or create at least 21/2 million jobs so that the nearly 2 million Americans who've lost them know that they have a future," Additional economic plans will upgrade public school buildings, improve the broadband technology and create a system to make sure that every Americans has access to electronic medical records.
